Pingshan is home to BYD and Skywell New Energy among other top auto businesses, which specialize in the R&D and manufacturing of the entire industrial chain from batteries, car parts, charging, electric motors, electric controls, full vehicles to unmanned cars, intelligent driving software and smart sensors. 

In 2022, the industrial output value of key enterprises in Pingshan reached nearly 166.4 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 124.7%. With the support of the national new-energy vehicle industrial base and the Shenzhen Intelligent-Connected Transportation Testing Platform, Pingshan is focusing on the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs), key parts and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs).

Pingshan is home to Shenzhen’s only demonstration platform for the ICV testing. It is also the only Shenzhen district that has launched preferential policies to support the development of the intelligent connected industries, launched policies to open up the whole district for ICVs, and set up an exclusive fund for the intelligent connected industries. Currently, it is applying to build itself into a national pilot area for the ICV industry.
